Seafood is the specialty of Kizingoni House and Chef Kithi buys fish, crab, shrimp and calamari directly from the fishermen. From a variety of seasonal menus, he then creates sumptuous dinners featuring Swahili cuisine that includes items such as curried red snapper and coconut rice, crab thermador, and grilled prawns. Fresh tropical fruits are in abundance and local vegetables add to the menu. Kithi can also prepare a range of desserts including homemade ice cream and cakes. Vegetarian meals can be arranged by advance request to ensure availability.
On the full-board basis, guests will have three set meals, fresh fruit drinks and an afternoon tea. We can also try to arrange for special food requests, but such costs will be billed to the guests.
For a memorable evening, we can arrange a sundowner on the dunes with delicious “bitings”. Should you wish to take a trip, we can provide a cold lunch to take with you. Beer can be purchased in Lamu Town (a guest expense), but because there is only a limited selection of wine or spirits in Lamu Town, guests are advised to bring those items. In addition, guests can stroll down the beach to a neighbor’s bar for drinks in the evening.
