The Beach and Dunes

Whether you want to go for a leisurely walk and collect shells, take a long jog, hike in the dunes or build sand castles – it’s all there!  Our own beach in front of the House is long and sloping white sand, providing a safe, calm and relaxing place to swim and play with children.  And a short distance away on the ocean side, there is surf for boogie boarding and other water sports.

The beach and adjacent sand dunes are usually empty except for birds, crabs, and an occasional fisherman.  And just a short walk around the southern tip of the island, the untouched ocean beach stretches for eight miles to the busy town of Shela.
